Education Opportunities

For families with children, one of the primary concerns in moving to a new home is what schools your children will attend. Montgomery County has some of the best schools in the nation. To see a full listing of both public and private schools, you can check the website Great Schools. School Matters is another site providing information on local schools, and still another will provide rankings on area public schools.

I can even create a report that compares the system you are currently in (nationwide) with the local high school district that you are considering. If you would like a listing of the private schools that are within a defined proximity of the house you would like to live in, I can email a report to you with that specific information from the eNeighborhoods database.

From pre-school through high school and onto community college and major universities, this region has some of the finest educational institutions to be found anywhere. There are a multitude of adult education courses through the local counties and also through parks & recreation organizations in MD, VA and DC.

The Montgomery County public school system is a large school system that covers pre-K through high school education.

For those who choose to homeschool their children in DC, MD or VA, it's important to follow each jurisdiction's guidelines. There is an active national organization as well as numerous local networks of likeminded parents in the city as well as the suburbs of MD and VA.

Major universities in the area include the University of Maryland, Georgetown, George Washington, American University, Howard University, and Catholic University. With several campuses across Montgomery County, Montgomery College is one of the premier community colleges in the country. The areas in and around DC are known for their strong educational system and excellent schools from kindergarten to graduate school.
